What time is afternoon tea served?

Afternoon tea was traditionally served at 4pm but most hotels now give you much more flexibility. Our afternoon tea service allows you to choose a time that best suits your event, venue, and guests. We tailor the food options accordingly. You can start as early as 11am or as late as 6pm.

Is afternoon tea the same as high tea?

No. Afternoon tea and high tea are two different traditions. Afternoon tea is typically served mid-afternoon and features tea sandwiches, scones, and sweets. High tea, on the other hand, originated as a heartier early-evening meal and typically includes more substantial savoury dishes.

In the U.S., the terms are often used interchangeably, but if you’re looking for the elegant three-tier towers and delicate treats then afternoon tea is correct. (and won’t get a raised eyebrow when you’re in London!)

Can I customize my menu for dietary needs?

Yes, we can customize menus to accommodate dietary needs such as gluten-free, celiac, dairy-free, vegetarian, and other preferences. Just let us know in your booking details.

Can kids come to afternoon tea?

Absolutely! We can provide a child-friendly menu that’s served right alongside the grown-ups, or you can book one of our popular Princess Tea Parties.

How many guests can you serve at an afternoon tea?

We can accommodate both small groups (8-10) and larger gatherings of 200+ guests. Package descriptions and minimums vary, so you can choose a package based on your guest count.
