What To Serve When They Don’t Like Tea

Planning a tea party but worried some guests might not actually like tea?

You’re not alone. At Truly Terrific Tea Co. in Austin, we’ve hosted plenty of gatherings (Sweet Sixteens, bridal showers, family reunions) where half the guests love Earl Grey and the others prefer “something pink with bubbles and a straw.”

Or maybe the guest of honor loves the afternoon tea vibe – the vintage china, the tiered stands, the florals – more than the actual tea. That’s fine with us. We’re not tea snobs. Here’s a few of our favorite non-tea teas.

Drinks For Influencers

Start the party with a drink that looks as good as it tastes. It sets the tone before anyone even asks, “Is there coffee?”

  • Pink Potion Club (Strawberry Glitter Lemonade). Our crowd-favourite, especially for younger guests. Sweet, tart, and just the right amount of sparkle. We’ve served it in mason jars, glass teacups, and even potion bottles for an Alice in Wonderland Sweet Sixteen.
  • Hibiscus Iced Tea – vibrant crimson, tart, and tangy. It’s technically a tisane (not a tea-tea), but call it what you want, it tastes amazing.
  • Elderflower Spritz – Light, floral, and very British. A perfect non-alcoholic option for baby or bridal showers.

These options look gorgeous in photos and are perfect for greeting guests with something cool, colourful, and conversation-starting.

Drinks For Attention Seekers

If you want to win over non-tea drinkers, give them a little spectacle.

Our Butterfly Peaflower Tea is a showstopper. Deep blue when brewed it magically changes to purple (or pink) when fresh-squeezed lemonade is added.

It’s visually stunning, interactive, and completely caffeine-free, which makes it a hit with teens and adults alike.

We serve it in vintage glass teacups so guests can watch the colour change happen before their eyes. It’s part science, part theatre, and entirely Instagram bait.

Drinks For The Starbucks Crowd

If you want to ease the coffee crowd into the world of tea, lattes are a lovely middle ground. Our chai lattes are creamy, spiced, and a little indulgent. Our London Fog Latte, made with Earl Grey Tea, ticks the comfort-drink box while keeping to the tea theme.

We can serve them hot in winter or iced in summer, topped with cinnamon dust and just enough froth to make them feel special.

They’re the perfect “gateway teas” – familiar, delicious, and way better than Starbucks.

Drinks For DIY Fans

For mixed groups, nothing beats an Arnold Palmer Bar. Half iced tea, half lemonade, and 100% customizable.

Guests can adjust the ratio to their taste and add flavoured syrups such as raspberry, peach, vanilla, or lavender.

It’s interactive, fun, and keeps a nod to the tea theme without forcing anyone into a cup they don’t fancy.

And for True Tea Lovers

And of course, for those who love a proper cuppa: we offer a full menu of classic teas, herbal blends, and custom infusions, all brewed with care.

You can even add a Tea Tasting Station or Tea Blending Bar so guests can craft their own tea blend to take home – a perfect blend of luxury and experience.

Why Book With Us?

At Truly Terrific Tea Co., we believe in tea parties without the pressure. Whether your guests are die-hard tea drinkers or prefer something with a straw and a bit of sparkle, we’ll tailor the menu to fit.

Because a tea party isn’t really about the tea — it’s about the connection, the conversation, and the gorgeous vintage teacups. But don’t clink them, and don’t stick your pinkie out (ask me why not)
